Olive Oil Making Journey

Olive Oil Making Journey

When you think of olive oil, you might picture the delicious golden liquid that makes your food taste better. But where does it come from? Today, we'll show you how it happens right in our garden at the tourist agency.

Step 1: Taking Care of Olive Trees

It all begins with olive trees in our garden. Olive trees like warm, sunny weather, and they do well in our region. We grow them to help the environment and provide good things for our guests.

Step 2: Picking Olives

Olive picking usually happens in the fall, around October and November. It's a lot of work, and we need to be careful. Our team, which includes local experts and volunteers, gathers to pick the best olives from the trees. We choose the ones that are just right.

Step 3: Making Olive Oil

After we pick the olives, they need to go through a special process to turn into olive oil. We don't do this part ourselves. This process is called "cold-pressing." It's like squeezing the olives gently to get the oil out. This makes what we call extra virgin olive oil, which is the best kind.

Step 4: Cleaning It Up

After the cold-pressing, there are more steps to make the oil clean and clear. We let other people handle this part. They separate the oil from water and solid parts and use a special filter to make sure the oil is very clean.

Step 5: Putting It in Bottles and Storing

The final product is put into bottles, but we don't do this part ourselves. The bottles get labels with the date when the oil was made and the kind of olives used. This tells people about the oil's flavor and how fresh it is. To keep the oil good, the bottles are stored in a cool, dark place, away from light and heat.

The next time you use that delicious extra virgin olive oil on your food, remember that it came from our garden to your table.
